Harlot and The KingI thought you were a fairy tale,
Some hyped-up fabrication,
About as real as mermaid tails,
A thing of imagination,

Here I was with the riffraff and the low-life,
Making small talk; watching days fly by,
Then you walked in and your armor caught the bold light,
Had to pull a double take; could not believe my eyes,

So this is love,
This is the passion and the fire,
That burns a-blazing flames,
That chew out both lust and desire,
So this is love,
This is the heart that knows no bounds,
Cascading endless compassion,
That drowns out all other sounds,
So this is love,
This is the breath of sweet, fresh air,

A Study in OppositesA hot cup of tea satisfies most
when chilly is the breeze
How beautiful are flowers new
After a winter's white blanket

Would anything feel so grand
without the opposite to tire us?
Could candles ever cheer as much
if not for dark, gray days?

Heaven is only heavenly to those
who know of hardship and sorrow
Christ's death to prove this truth
greatest beauty from the greatest pain

Purity the opposite of sinfulness
Life the opposite of death
Light the opposite of darkness
Joy the opposite of despair

In the world there is discomfort
But I sip my tea as a reminder
that peace exists in the midst of war
that Christ lives where Sata
God Does CareI heard you say He doesn't care
but He knows the number of hairs
on your downcast head.
Don't believe those venomous lies
Escape the dark and open your eyes
you are part of a war.
In your face I see the pain
your world is constant rain
bleak and hopeless.

formed in the Creator's hands.

faith and hope for tomorrow

A magnificent mess I see

looking for the lighthouse in the dark.

Waves crashing,
wind howling,
ship rocking,
threatening to capsize and take me under.

There seems no end in sight
for the storm around me
rages on and on as far as I can see.

I see a shimmer in the distance,
it is oh so far away,
will I make it in time
before the waves take me down.

I know the land is near,
I just need to fight,
fight my way through the storm
to the safety of land.

Sure, it sounds depressing but you might learn a thing or two
I used to be the kind of girl that had it all
But my faith in the world blinded me from the truth

Living up to this world's standards isn't easy
For once in my life all I want is to feel accepted
And all this time I've just been in the way
All this time, I've been rejected

when the walls are closing in
Sometimes everything
is just too much
and I reach for those arms
to hold me safe
a chest to rest my head against
Warmth against the cold
But the arms I long for
aren't always Yours
I run for human strength
and forget about You,
the One who hung the stars,

I couldn't even pray because I couldn't put my prayers into words, so I wrote this. Sometimes being safe is someone's arms sounds wonderful, but most of the time I don't care for God's arms as much. Sometimes I think that being able to feel an embrace is worth more than whose embrace it is.

I feel the same way. I keep forgetting to put God first, and he is the one who we have to put first
